Association of Hole in the Wall Camps
The Hole in the Wall Camps are the
world’s largest family of camps for children with serious illnesses
and life-threatening conditions. Since Paul Newman founded the first
camp in 1988, the Hole in the Wall Camps have served more than
120,000 children from over 30 countries – free of charge. With
support from Jewelers for Children, more children can experience the
powerful influence of Camp, where they can forget they are patients
and have fun just being kids.
At the Hole in the Wall Camps, highly trained medical professionals,
skilled staff, and committed volunteers create a safe, supportive
community that embraces children with the healing power of laughter,
challenges them to achieve success they never dreamed possible, and
enables them to share in the simple joys of childhood. In the
process, campers develop courage and resiliency to face their
illness, a sense of accomplishment, and a feeling of control over
their lives.
