The support
JFC gives to our legacy charities supports programs that help
children around the world. In the US, JFC funding supports
programs at the local level in many areas across the country.
Wish a State
Program
Our funding to
the Make-A-Wish Foundation provides for the Wish a State Program.
The Wish A State program was created to provide for granting wishes
in every state. Since 1999, more than 900 wishes have been
granted to children who are victims of catastrophic illness.
Through this program, local Make-A-Wish chapters are partnering with
local Jewelers of America affiliates to share the power of a wish.
In 2008,
Jewelers for Children celebrates its 10th anniversary and will grant
its 1,000th wish with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Champions for
Abused Children Campaign
JFC's support of CASA is passed
through to local programs to directly help abused and neglected
children. This funding supports the work of our advocates in:
gathering information about the children they serve; meeting with
these children and developing relationships with them; preparing
reports to present in court on the child's behalf and then appearing
in court to advocate for the placement of the child into a safe and
caring home; and working with teachers, doctors, extended family
members and others to make sure that the child's needs are being met
and he or she is receiving appropriate educational and medical
